Stanford Biodesign

The Stanford Biodesign program is the pioneering program in medical device innovation. The program's mission is to train students, fellows and faculty in the Biodesign Process: a systematic approach to needs finding and the invention and implementation of new biomedical technologies.

Key components of the program include Biodesign Innovation Fellowships; classes in medtech innovation; mentoring of students and faculty in the technology transfer process; career services for students interested in medtech careers; and community educational events.

Stanford-India Biodesign

In 2007, Stanford Biodesign launched the Stanford-India Biodesign (SIB) program focused on medical device innovation to address emerging market needs in India. The SIB Fellowship is open to Indian Citizens.

Stanford Biodesign Sourcebook

Stanford Biodesign has published a new textbook, Biodesign the Process of Innovating Medical Technologies. The book contains a total of 29 chapters detailing each step of the process of innovating new medical devices from clinical needs finding and screening to business models and funding. Each chapter also includes a "Getting Started" section with the basic steps to take at each statge of the process. A companion website has been released with the book: http://www.ebiodesign.org.
